Import a case list from a document
Paste the list, or open the CSV or PDF on your phone. The text lands in a box you can edit before anything becomes a case. One review screen shows every row it read and lets you untick any of them. Nothing is written until you tap Add.

A backlog is almost never text you can select. It is a list somebody else's software produced — usually a PDF you saved to Files. This guide covers turning that list into cases.

Bring the list as it is
No “one case per line”, no example row, no “put the date first”. You are holding a list you did not design, and telling you to reformat it would only shift the work onto you. The reader's job is to read what you have.

Paste it, or import the file
“Import a file” reads a CSV or a PDF on this device and puts what it found into the box you would have pasted into. That is deliberate: you see the text before anything becomes a case, in a box you can edit. A file import that silently turns into rows is a file import you cannot check.

Say which year, if Capnolog asks
When the dates are ambiguous, Capnolog asks which year the cases belong to. Your answer outranks any guess the reader would make, and skipping the question is a real answer rather than a dodge.

Review every row Capnolog read
One screen holds the whole reading: a strip naming your columns, and under it every row it made. The strip is where you say what a column means, and the rows re-read as you say it. Each row carries a tick you can turn off, so anything it is unsure about is shown to you rather than filled in quietly.

Tap “Add N cases” to save them
“Continue” hands you a short screen listing exactly the cases about to be added. It asks the one question the app cannot answer for you: whether these are already filed with the ACGME. “Add N cases” is the only thing that writes, and N is the number of rows you left ticked. They arrive saved unfinished, for you to finish.

Cases you already have are skipped
The import is compared against the cases already on your device, so a list that overlaps what you have logged does not double it. Cases already on your official list are held out too.
The document and the text read out of it are the densest patient data the app ever touches. They live in that screen while you are looking at them, and nowhere else. Capnolog does not write them to a file, log them, or send them anywhere.
